GOWEN T

Our version of the solid body guitar design that started it all.

Prices start at around £1250 (-10% with student discount) for new Gowen Ts , with no front or rear contours or added top. Our high spec standard configuration includes a single Iron Gear Dirty Torque or Tesla Shark humbucker pick-up, or a  single IronGear Steel Foundry single coil pickup, in the bridge position.

Unique, figured tone wood bodies or tops and body carving adds between £150 and £700 to the basic cost of the instrument - visit the Shop page for more information on the body wood and top combinations we currently have available, or email us for details of the look / wood you'd like for your guitar.

 

We can source completely individual top and body woods or pickups and hardware  especially for your guitar.

T Standard Specification

Single cutaway body with either single or twin humbuckers, or single or twin single coils, finished in a hand rubbed oil finish (Tung/Osmo/Tru/Boiled Linseed).

  • Gotoh 510UB Wraparound / Modern Tele Bridge

  • Gotoh Tuning Machines

  • Optional carved top and rear contour

  • Schaller straplock buttons

  • Front Control Plate, neck pickup surround.

Electrics

  • All CTS switches and pots, vintage cloth wire

  • Irongear Dirty Torque Humbucker or Irongear Tesla Shark or Irongear Steel Foundry (standard or overwound) or House of Tone single coil/humbucker/P90  in Bridge position. Options for adding a second Irongear or House of Tone pickup.

  • Separate volume and tone controls for each pickup (humbucker guitars only)

  • Main cavities copper foil shielded throughout

Neck

  • Bolt-on Maple & Ebony or Mahogany & Rosewood neck, dotted fret markers, Gowen Guitars engraved neck plate

  • 648mm scale length (option for 628mm), 16" radius

  • Medium-jumbo sized frets

  • Chrome Gotoh machine heads

Model History

The 2018 Gowen T we built for Lucy Gowen in Paulownia was our first ever prototype guitar. It weighed just 2.5Kg and had neck and bridge high output humbuckers. This guitar is now owned by singer Emma Marie of Colorado USA.

​

Since then we've built Ts with both humbuckers and single coils on commission, in a variety of woods.

 

In 2020 we began using more decorative, figured top woods, combined with visually contrasting body woods.

  • #006 : English Chestnut, twin single coil

  • #007 : Apple on English Ash, twin single coil

  • #008 : Ash on Walnut, twin single coil

  • #009 : London Plane, twin humbucker

  • #010 : English Ash, twin humbucker

  • #014 : Ash on Walnut, single Humbucker

  • #016 : Grenadillo on Walnut, twin single coil.
